Calling all BRIDES!

I don't usually do this, but feel I need to at least once before the end of the summer! ( A shameless plug :) )

I was privileged to participate with some other wonderful Mary Kay consultants this past Sunday at a Bridal Expo in Oak Brook, IL.  This is the second Expo I've attended, and it reminds me EVERY TIME how much I enjoy working with brides!!!  What a special time in a gal's life!  I just love being even a small part of her special event by offering a great skin care line to get the skin on her face and body soft, smooth, and flawless.  I have done makeup for over 25 weddings and I never get tired of it!  It really is one of my favorite parts of what I do as a representative of Mary Kay.

If you are a bride, or you know someone about to walk down the aisle, please consider getting yourself, or her, prepared for that special day with the Bridal Pampering Session (always FREE!) Which includes a luxurious facial, microdermabrasion treatment, Satin Hands softening treatment, and a makeup consultation for not only the bride, but up to 6 of the bridesmaids and family members.  Truly enjoy this special time in your life and look your absolute BEST!

Okay, so that is the plug. It wasn't so bad, was it?

Hope to see you soon!

Happy Love Day!

I just wanted to write today to express a concern I had earlier this week, specifically on the day we as American's celebrate the anniversary of our independence. ( the 4th of July of course!)

This day is supposed to be a day of celebration, a day we can give complete strangers a look on a public street or fireworks show, communicating we may not know each other, but the fact we are all living in this beautiful country with so many freedoms and privileges, there is so much to be thankful for!

My concern was hearing on the news the night of the 4th, that several shootings and fatalities occured in Chicago during the day's 4th of July celebrations.

It really hurts my heart when I hear this, as I am sure it hurts you as well. This same feeling comes over me every time I hear about an innocent child being killed anywhere, but something about a day like this really points to how some of our priorities and perceptions of reality are so very skewed.

I just want to pray and ask we all pray together, that we continue to make progress in taking care of this ongoing problem, and that we can one day truly live in this country as one.

That being said, I hope you had a joyful and safe holiday with your friends and family, and hope we see each other soon!

God bless and God bless America!

Celebrate the Stars and Stripes!

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

As one of the biggest days of the year approaches (tomorrow!), a lot of stress can fall on us to get to the family events and to many of the local festivals.

If you feel like making a bit of a statement on a day where we are celebrating the red white and blue, think about trying out a deep red on those smoochers of yours!

Have a safe and beautiful 4th!

God Bless America!

Win with your Skin - Hollywood Secrets - Day 5

Avoid the Sun: The first step is good old prevention. As the saying goes, "an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure". In the case of freckles, spots and uneven skin colors this means getting out of the sun or using sunscreen. The Center for Disease Control (cdc.gov) recommends a sunscreen that blocks UV-A and UV-B rays and is SPF 15 at least. The Truth Behind SPF Ratings Interestingly, the SPF in sunscreen refers to the blockage of UV-B rays, which are the rays that cause sunburn. However, it's the UV-A rays that get under the skin and are responsible for wrinkles and skin cancer.

The best way to block UV-B rays is to look for a sunscreen with avobenzone or Mexoyl which block these rays. It's All About the UV-B. The absolute best skin protection is to cover up and avoid the sun as much as possible by wearing a hat and something to cover exposed areas and staying in the shade when outdoors or on the beach. Now you know why spray tans are so popular with the Hollywood set!
Stay protected out there!

One more thing....

Sunday is Love Day!

My Mission: A Mission Statement

Today, as your Insider coach, I wanted to relay a concept I heard this week that I thought was very interesting and very impactful for you AND your family.

We have all heard of "Mission Statements" for businesses, but we should also create them for ourselves, and for our family!

While it is briefly useful to think about what we would say, it is 100 times more useful if we write it down!!!

I do not have mine down yet, still working, but I would have to include that being intentional about what I do and say, would be included.

What would you say in your Mission statement? What would you include in your family's mission statement?

I will have my statement later in the week. Look forward to seeing what is important to you!

Have a blessed day!

Win with Your Skin - Hollywood Secrets

Hollywood Beauty Secrets - Day 2

As we all know, most Hollywood actresses and actors undergo minor, and sometimes major, surgical treatments to make the skin on their faces look firmer. They make use of various injectables like hyaluronics, and acid fillers like Restylane and Juvederm,

If you are thinking about getting any of these procedures done, make sure that you approach a genuine & experienced professional (Going with someone who was referred to you by someone you know and trust is a major plus.) These injectable procedures can cost any where between $ 600 & $ 1,000 per needle. Their results last up to 6 months or so.

If you are not a Hollywood starlet, and don't have thousands of dollars budgeted for skin treatments, but need some help, let me know!

Win with your Skin - Hollywood Secrets

Hollywood Skin Secrets - Day 1

Vigorous eating and exercising routines take up a lot of their time (It's part of the job) One of the most important tips that are essential to look beautiful & glamorous is to have a balanced diet that is best suited to your body type. For instance, some people gain weight due to a high carb diet, so they must avoid carbohydrates. The oily foods can damage the skin so you must avoid them when possible. Further, a high salt diet can damage the glow and growth of the skin.

The Hollywood actors & actresses usually follow the diet plan prescribed by their dietitians or personal trainers. If you learn your skin type, eat a healthy balanced diet, and maintain your skin's needs, you will not need an expensive personal dietitian!

I am not a dietitian, but I can help you with you skin needs!

Love Day - Belong. Be loved!

Happy Love Day!

On this day, I think about the few basic needs we need to live in this complicated world. Besides of course food and shelter, there are really two main things that we need to feel "complete"

Those two things are to feel loved, and to feel we belong.

While I urge people to become a member of my community to find a sense of belonging, there is only one place to find both unconditional love and belonging, and that is a relationship with our lord Jesus Christ.

What a day to thank him for the blessings we have and all that he does for our good!

Praying you have a blessed Sunday!

Smiles,

Lesley ;)

Win with your Skin - Day 6

Why does our skin age?

Aging skin has the condition where the structural proteins that bind and support the skin, collagen and elastin, lose their resiliency and cohesion, causing the skin to wrinkle and/or sag. The body's ability to produce new collagen and elastin also diminishes with age while the cells in the various layers of our skin decline and thin, losing the ability to adequately maintain moisture. Without proper hydration, the healing mechanisms of the skin cease to function, adversely affecting the skin's ability to receive nutrients and repair itself. The result is rough, lose, wrinkled skin. We all want smooth skin, but what do we need to do? It doesn’t have to be confusing. Find the program right for your skin, and follow through!

Not wearing sufficient SPF for skin type ages our skin. Protect your skin while you are in the sun and extreme weather (Summer and Winter!). Also, remember to drink lots of water. It's so important for proper skin hydration and keeping your body clean from toxins (inside) and other chemicals that could cause adverse reactions in your skin. (outside)

Check out our Timewise Miracle Set line today.  It can and has made a difference for so many women to slow the process of visible aging and help protect skin from the sun and environmental damage!

Call or email today if you or anyone you know would like a personal skin consultation!

Today's Thought...

It is time to confront negative mindsets. You must discard old ways of thinking and come into Christ and allow Him to work in you. Remember 2 Corinthians 5:17? "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come."

Keep Smiling :),

Win with your Skin - Day 2 and 3

Skin Protection and Cleansing

Skin Protection- During the summer, we are told to put 35-45-65 – 75 spf, which for some maybe a good idea, but most people need the vitamin D that the sun provides. (These shortened days, whether we know it or not, cause us a deficiency in some important vitamins. Not getting as much vitamin D throughout these months can negatively effect us. Actually, the sun does not provide the vitamin D, but the ultra violet light that the sun omits, develops the Vitamin D in our bodies.. We can take supplements, but drinking and eating other foods high in vitamin D is a great idea, especially for women during these months.

Cleansing: It's important for you to remember that you will need to select your skin care based on how your skin is 'feeling' at any point in your life.
If your skin is oily, you can choose a foaming cleanser to remove excess oil, and a lighter, water-based moisturizer  If your skin is dry, you should select a gentle cream cleanser and a heavier moisturizer  If your skin is sensitive, natural skin care products may be best for you, and cause less irritation than products with synthetic ingredients.

Win with your Skin

This month, we will be looking at how to take care of our skin, head to toe, for the short term and long term.

Today we are focusing on our diet...

Vitamins through the food we eat are vital for the outward appearance of our skin: To have truly healthy skin we must first start with what we eat and drink. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits and nuts. They have plenty of antioxidants that can combat what free radicals do to our cells. Some foods that are particularly high in antioxidants are blueberries, cranberries, pinto beans, red beans, apples, pecans and artichokes.

Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated. The skin needs water as much as the rest of the body. Green tea is also high in antioxidants. If you drink the decaf kind, you won't get as many. Depending on the way the tea is decaffeinated determines how many antioxidants are left. A good rule of thumb is only count on half the amount in decaf.

Have a wonderful day!

Keep Smiling,

Lesley ;)
